Krueger: Tales From Elm Street Review

krueger a tale from elm street reviewDirector: Chris .R. Notarile

Year: 2011, 2013

Summary: A look at Freddy Krueger before the Elm Street movies.

My Short Summary: I had the chance to discover 2 great short films based on Freddy Krueger, who has to be one of my all time favorite horror movie villain. “Krueger: A Tale from Elm Street” and “Krueger: Another Tale From Elm Street” are fan films directed by Chris .R. Notarile who has an impressive list of fan made shorts under his belt (check out his youtube page).

Roberto Lombardi stars as a younger and still alive Freddy Krueger (before he got caught and burned alive  by a mob of angry parents) and really manages to capture the essence of Freddy as a creepy child molester/killer.

In the first short, the dialog between him and Nancy’s father serves as a good prequel to the original movie and efficiently shows us the darkest side of Krueger while the second short goes even further with Freddy successfully luring a young prey into his lair.

Chris .R. Notarile pays a lot of respect to Wes Craven original material and his movies are  like a breath of fresh air after so many sequels have turned Freddy into a caricature of himself.

So, If you like your Freddy to be dark and creepy, those shorts are definitively made for you. You can check them out here:
