Hatchet Review

hatchet movie reviewSynopsis: (from IMDb) When a group of tourists on a New Orleans haunted swamp tour find themselves stranded in the wilderness, their evening of fun and spooks turns into a horrific nightmare.

My Quick Review: There is not much to say about Hatchet except that it does its job. It is a fun gory ride, an homage to the 80s slasher movies (especially Friday the 13th) that never takes itself seriously. The characters (including the killer, Victor Crowley) are all over the top as are the killing (many old school practical gore effects).

I wasn’t very impressed by Frozen another movie written and directed by Adam Green but, I had a good time watching Hatchet and would definitively recommend it for group viewing on a friday night with beer and pizzas. On a side note, there are some quick cameos from Tony Todd and Robert Englund, which is always appreciated.

My Rating: 6/10 (with a group of friends or a theater full of fans) 5/10 (if you’re alone)

Year: 2006
